Storyteq Continues Leadership Streak with 4th Year as Gartner Magic Quadrant Leader

Johanna Kaszti
06.01.2026

John Kirk, CSO of Storyteq, talks about the innovations and customer-centric mindset that make Storyteq a market leader year after year in Content Marketing Platforms.

Storyteq, has been recognized as a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Content Marketing Platforms (CMPs) for the fourth consecutive year. This recognition underscores Storyteq’s position at the center of modern content operations, one where marketing, data, and AI converge to power content operations at scale.

Storyteq is known as the AI-powered backbone of content marketing, enabling large, multi-brand organizations to plan, brief, approve, produce, deploy and optimize content across global and local markets. The platform supports governance, trust, and compliance while ensuring speed and agility in execution.

“Gartner’s prestigious Magic Quadrants have an execution axis and a vision axis,” explains John Kirk, ITG’s chief strategy officer. “This year, Gartner positioned Storyteq as highest in Ability to Execute – above any other CMP.”

Storyteq is also a Leader in the Magic Quadrant for Digital Asset Management (DAM), where earlier this year it was named furthest on the axis for Completeness of Vision.

“I believe this recognition for both vision and execution reflects a product that is genuinely aligned with what customers need.”

The Shift to Agentic AI

As marketing evolves toward decision intelligence and agentic AI, Storyteq is helping organizations move beyond traditional workflows and dashboards toward intelligent orchestration, where content creation, optimization, and distribution are increasingly automated, yet fully governed. However, this can be a complex and painful transition for marketing teams. Storyteq is designed to make the process simple and pain-free.

“My view is that a content marketing platform is becoming more like an engine. Because of the rise of agent-based AI, I believe SaaS businesses like ours – those that manage assets and handle business structure and operations – will increasingly become the backbone of a company’s infrastructure.”

“Agentic AI will sit on top of that, but it doesn’t mean you no longer need a content marketing platform. Instead, the CMP becomes the backbone,” he explains. The CMP’s function is then tasked with generating value from content at every level. “It’s about engineering intelligent content ecosystems, where data, AI, and humans work together.”

Naturally, this will have an effect on the role of the marketer, and a period of upskilling will have to take place, “moving toward roles such as business scientists and context engineers. We’re moving away from task-based roles toward more value-driven, outcome-focused work and ecosystem-based partnerships.”

One of the key shifts here is the rise of decision intelligence. “Tell me the best thing I should do next,” John clarifies. “The platform itself would tell you what actions to take. It would be driven by machine understanding rather than human interpretation of dashboards.”

The idea is that you simply set the platform with an objective and it will deliver it through orchestration. “My view of decision intelligence is that it leads to what I call symbiotic AI, where machines and humans co-create outcomes.”

Trust, Governance and Provenance

Content provenance is another Storyteq focus. “This is about building a ‘truth infrastructure’ around content,” John says, “understanding whether content is authentic, verified, and properly attributed,” which will become increasingly important as regulation comes into play in the industry.

John notes that the EU AI Act is coming into force this summer, alongside emerging US transparency regulations. “It’s all about ensuring brands and retailers remain compliant with requirements around content creation and usage.” In short, compliance is no longer optional.

Staying Ahead of the Curve

Getting ahead of the market is the reason John believes Storyteq keeps landing in the Leader quadrant. He can see how in six months’ time others will struggle with the structural side of embedding AI into operations. “We’re already ahead of that. It’s not just about whether you can create an AI agent today, because you can. The real challenge is ensuring you give the right person access to the right tool at the right time, while maintaining control, monitoring, and governance,” he explains.

It’s about control, oversight, and provenance should something go wrong. “If an agent generates something and hallucinates, you need to know what was prompted, who prompted it, where the information came from, and whether it is trustworthy. That level of oversight and provenance is what separates real leadership from hype. Storyteq is already doing this.”

AI Transformation Company

For John, the Gartner recognition is more than a badge. It signals that Storyteq is actively shaping the next phase of content operations.

“We are seen as an agile content company with market-leading technology, but we are also a leader in delivering AI transformation at scale,” he reflects. “And this is increasingly becoming the highest priority for marketers.”

With its deep domain experience, proprietary AI-powered technology and long track record in global enterprise change management, ITG is the go-to company for AI transformation in the content marketing arena.
